RCREEE to scale up its cooperation via LCEC to Foster the Implementation of USD 1.6 billion Renewable Energy Investment Plan of Lebanon

Beirut- 4th of September 2015, RCREEE Executive Director Eng. Ahmed Badr met with the Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water, His Excellency Mr. Arthur Nazarian together with the Executive Management team of Lebanese Centre for Energy Conservation (LCEC) represented by Engineer Pierre El Khoury, Mr. Ziad El Zein and Dr. Joseph al Assad to discuss means to further strengthen the ongoing cooperation in the fields of Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE).

The meeting capitalized on previous fruitful bilateral cooperation between RCREEE and Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water (LMEW) represented by LCEC especially the development of Lebanon's first National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP) which will be presented during the international edition of Beirut Energy Forum (BEF) on 9-11 September 2015. RCREEE and LCEC will be executing new partnership to foster Lebanon's ambitious plan for attracting Foreign Direct Investment of USD 1.6 billion in RE sector. This will be conducted through jointly developing and implementing a nationwide comprehensive study for risks, barriers and mitigation measures for materializing the NREAP capital investment target of USD 1.6 billion. Forthcoming weeks will witness the completion of the related scope of work and related modus operandi for shaping up this first block of the Lebanon's NREAP.
