ECREEE engaged in ROGEAP activities

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) has once again demonstrated its commitment to strengthening regional collaboration and media engagement in the sustainable energy sector by participating in the 2nd sensitization workshop organized by the Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP), from March 13 to 14, 2024 in Lomé - Togo, for the network of journalists collaborating with the project. This workshop, a central event for energy stakeholders in the region, aims to foster greater understanding and visibility of the Project's significant contribution to promoting access to electricity in the region.

ECREEEE was represented by Mr. Joarel Barros, Communications Officer, who presented the Center's mission, strategic plan 2023-2027 and current projects. His presentation highlighted the organization's key role in implementing one of the project's components.

The workshop, attended by journalists from across the ECOWAS region as well as from the Central African Republic, Chad, Mauritania and Cameroon, provided a unique platform for dialogue on ROGEAP's progress and challenges, and discussions took place on the role the network can play in ensuring the project's visibility in all member states.

ECREEE will also participate in the two (2) regional workshops on the implementation of harmonized standards for solar home systems to be held respectively from March 19 to 21, 2024 in Cotonou (Benin) and from March 26 to 28, 2024 in Freetown (Sierra Leone). ECREEE will be represented at these regional workshops by Mr Ibrahima Soumaila and Mr Hyacinth Elayo. These workshops will bring together key stakeholders from the region and beyond, to explore strategies for promoting access to off-grid solar energy. Through these initiatives, ECREEE and the ROGEAP Project Management Unit are working closely together to achieve the goal of universal access to sustainable energy for All by 2030.
