Libya assumes RCREEE Board of Trustees presidency for 2018

Cairo- February 2018: In its annual meeting, Libya assumes RCREEE Board of Trustees ( BoT)  presidency for one year starting February 21, 2018.

Accordingly, Dr. Hamid Hameda El Sherwali, chairperson of the Board of Directors for Renewable Energy Authority of Libya (REAoL) is named the chairperson of RCREEE’s BoT succeeding Eng. Pierre El Khoury General Director of the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation (LCEC).

Dr. El Sherwali has more than 30 years of experience and holds a PhD in electrical power engineering.  Prior to RCREEE BoT presidency, Dr. El Sherwali served as lecturer, head of renewable energy and energy efficiency department at the faculty of ‎engineering, University of Tripoli and chairperson of General Electrical Company (GECOL).

RCREEE team headed by Ahmed Badr thanks Eng. Pierre El Khoury for his outstanding support, leadership and efforts over the last year and looks forward to working under the new leadership.

About RCREEE Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees (BoT) consists of governmental representatives from RCREEE member states (17), and is responsible, among others, for the strategic direction of the Center, the annual work plans and the financial performance of the Center.  

The Presidency of RCREEE BoT is transferred alternately every year among RCREEE member states according to their Arabic alphabetical order. The presidency of RCREEE BoT was assumed since its establishment by Egypt in 2009. Then Jordan assumed the presidency in 2010, followed by Tunisia in 2011, Algeria in 2012, Bahrain in 2013, Sudan in 2014, Iraq in 2015, Palestine in 2016, Lebanon 2017 and now Libya for 2018.
