The Forum is a momentous gathering aimed at propelling the region toward a more sustainable energy landscape. ESEF 2023 serves as a platform to showcase the collective commitment of the member states to transition to cleaner, more accessible, and efficient energy systems. This endeavor aligns with the global goals outlined in the Paris Agreement and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy.

Among the key objectives of the Forum, we can highlight:

  1. Promote cooperation and partnerships to accelerate the development of a viable regional electricity market with the massive integration of renewable energy;
  2. Hold the first Community of Champion for solar off grid;
  3. Engage in dialogue on the ECOWAS Green Hydrogen Policy and Strategy Framework and showcase the opportunities offered by green hydrogen for the energy transition of ECOWAS region.

The Forum strives to uptake the sustainable energy field by facilitating dialogue and collaboration among ECOWAS member states, encouraging the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices in sustainable energy development. By fostering partnerships, the region can pool resources and expertise to accelerate progress. The Forum also explores innovative solutions to address energy poverty and ensure that all citizens have access to reliable and affordable energy services, driving socioeconomic development.
