ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF 2025)

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) is proud to announce the 10th edition of the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF 2025), taking place from 18–19 September 2025 at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center in Banjul, The Gambia.

Held under the theme “Accelerating Sustainable Energy Infrastructure Solutions for Growth in the ECOWAS Region,” this landmark edition will mark a double celebration: ECREEE’s 15th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of ECOWAS.

Driving sustainable energy action in West Africa

ESEF 2025 aims to catalyze investments and policy actions to address persistent energy access challenges, accelerate clean energy deployment, and promote resilient and inclusive energy systems across the ECOWAS region.

As the region’s leading sustainable energy event, the forum will bring together:

  • Government ministers and policymakers

  • Private sector leaders and investors

  • Development partners and international organizations

  • Civil society actors and innovators

A platform for dialogue and partnerships

The agenda will feature high-level dialogues and technical sessions on:

  • Clean cooking solutions

  • Mini-grids and decentralized energy access

  • Climate-resilient cooling

  • Sustainable mobility

  • The energy–water–food nexus

With over 500 participants expected, ESEF 2025 will continue to serve as a unique platform to strengthen regional cooperation, unlock financing opportunities, and advance the goals of the ECOWAS Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Policies.

As a member of the GN-SEC, ECREEE ensures that lessons and innovations from West Africa are connected to a wider framework of inter-regional cooperation. Through GN-SEC, the outcomes of ESEF will not only contribute to regional progress but also inform and inspire other Centres across Africa, the Caribbean, the Pacific, and beyond — helping to accelerate clean energy transitions through joint learning and collaboration.
