The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) in partnership with the Francophone Institute for Sustainable Development (IFDD) and ENDA Énergie, are organizing a capacity building workshop in Praia, Cabo Verde from September 27 to October 11, on Energy Policy and Economy. The training, which will last for 2 weeks on an intensive basis, is aimed at the public administration, particularly at ministries in charge of energy, planning, economy, finance, environment, etc. Participants from institutions and specialized public bodies such as regulatory authorities, rural electrification agencies, energy management agencies, environmental agencies, NGOs, and the private sector, also encouraged to participate.
The main purpose of this capacity building workshop is to equip the participants with the tools they need to build strategic policies and ensure their successful implementation. As such the training will focus to provide:
- a clear understanding of the stakes of the sector and the motives of the interventions of the States and their role in the process.
- mastery of the tools necessary for the analysis of the energy situation, the development of the sector and its operation.
- consideration of renewable energies, a developing sector at the global level, as an opportunity for African countries.
