In West Africa, renewable energy entrepreneurs are at the forefront of efforts to extend access to modern energy services as they are often the best placed to offer tailored-made local solutions. Such entrepreneurs, however, face serious challenges including business management and operations, as well as bringing their innovative ideas to fruition.

To overcome some of these challenges and strengthen the capacity of ECOWAS-based renewable energy entrepreneurs, in April 2015, the International Renewable Energy and Agency (IRENA) and the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) established the “ECOWAS Renewable Energy Entrepreneurship Support Facility”. The establishment was facilitated in partnership with the International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering (2iE) in Burkina Faso and, through the financial support of the Government of Luxembourg, with the Centre for Renewable Energy and Industrial Maintenance (CERMI) in Cabo Verde.

Against this background, ECREEE in collaboration with IRENA, 2iE and CERMI are launching the 3^rd call for applications, which will be opened until March 25^th, 2017.

This call aims to provide technical assistance and support in order to:

• Refine renewable energy project proposals to be bankable;
• Enterprise development through mentorship and training programs.

All submitted applications will go through a selection process and only successful ones will be contacted.
