RCREEE signs a new strategic partnership agreement with China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute (CREEI)

June 12, 2019 - Shenzhen, China: Building upon RCREEE and CREEI commitment to support the MENA region transformation into green and clean energy and sustainable development through developing renewable energy, improving energy efficiency and widening connectivity of power grids, the two parties signed a new partnership agreement.

RCREEE Executive Director, Dr. Ahmed Badr and CREEI Deputy Director General, Gu Hongbin announced that the newly signed agreement represent the first mile stone into establishing a strategic partnership especially in climate finance cooperation, strategic research and policy making.

“Today, we are taking the first step towards building the first Arab-Chinese Green Energy Finance Platform (GEFP). This will pave the way towards conducting climate finance policy research to lower financing cost of green energy projects and building an assessment system for clean energy project supporting investment and development projects,” said RCREEE Executive Director, Dr. Ahmed Badr.

 Besides, both parties will cooperate in building and facilitating an online platform ensuring easy access to MENA region renewable energy and energy efficiency updates and project.

Dr. Badr further elaborated, “With GEEP, we will be able to explore and build incubators for clean energy industry supporting African and Arab countries to cultivate a number of exemplary clean energy projects and boost their green energy development and energy availability”.

GEEP initiative will be developed in partnership with multilateral development institutes interested to join e.g., Asian Infrastructure Bank, China’s State Grid, Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) and Think Tank Alliance of Global Energy Interconnection (TTAGEI).
