Somalia becomes the 17th member state to Join RCREEE

20 October, 2014 – With great pleasure the Board of Trustees of the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) welcomes Somalia as RCREEE’s 17th member state. Eng. Mohamed Ahmed Noor, Advisor to the Somalian Ministry of Energy and Water Resources was appointed as the Somalian representative to the Board of Trustees.

 

"We look forward to our cooperation with Somalia, through which we can support its renewable energy and energy efficiency activities. Also this cooperation will enable us to assist Somalia in the development of local performances and attract stakeholders. We are extremely happy with Somalia’s membership as it further strengthens RCREEE geographical coverage of the Arab Countries” Said Eng. Ahmed Badr, RCREEE Executive director.

Since its foundation in June 2008, RCREEE has proven itself as a leading organization in energy policies, strategies, and technology development in the Arab world. RCREEE started with 10 founding countries and over the course of 7 years succeeded to reach to 17 countries which are Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen.
