RCREEE Participates in a Cooperation on Climate Action in the Mediterranean Region

The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Climate Change Expert Group (UFMCCEG) met for the first time to kick off inter-regional cooperation on climate action in the Mediterranean region. Climate experts from all 40 UfM member states met with important Mediterranean stakeholders and agreed on a work plan for 2014 – 2015 as well as on ways for co-operation as well as a work program roadmap for the coming months.

The confernence also launched a multilateral and multi-stakeholder platform for the exchange of information, best practices and concrete cooperation opportunities among UfM Member States in the field of climate change.

The long-term objective of the UfMCCEG is to enhance national and regional capacities for strategic planning and implementation for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions. Mr. Amer Barghouth, Private Investment Promotion Program Manager, represented RCREEEE at the meeting on 13-14 October at the headquarters of the UfM Secretariat in Barcelona.
