RCREEE and RE-ACTIVATE develop an investors’ guideline for Egyptian solar PV Feed-in-Tariff procedures for small and large-scale projects and for the import process

The Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) in cooperation with the GIZ regional project RE-ACTIVATE developed two guidelines with detailed administrative procedures of Egyptian solar PV Feed-in-Tariff for small and large-scale projects. In addition, RCREEE and RE-ACTIVATE developed an info-graphic, which outlines the process of qualification of both large and small-scale solar PV plants.

The development of these products is a result of collaboration with relevant Egyptian institutions including the New and Renewable Energy Authority, the Egyptian Electricity Regulatory Agency and the Feed-In-Tariff Unit affiliated to the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC).

Moreover, a guiding document was prepared for the "Import Process", to inform the importers about the important stages and related documents required. Furthermore, special reference was made to the new regulations related to importing renewable energy equipment and systems, and how the importers can benefit from this reduction in customs fees.

In addition, the guidelines and mapping tool come in to help the inverstors better understand the current process to establish a solar PV project under the new Egyptian Feed-in Tariff (FiT) scheme. Moreover, the detailed visual mapping tools facilitate access to a comprehensive overview and narrow the gap on the interpretation of requirements among various stakeholders engaged in the process.
