IEEF improves Industrial facilities energy performance in Egypt: One factory at a time”

20 May 2020- Egypt: The Industrial Energy Efficiency Fund (IEEF) project’s team concluded a 10-day online training tailored for Helwan Fertilizer Company (HFC).

Launched in 2018, the IEEF project, became a unique financial instrument that supports the delivery of technical services for energy efficiency to the industrial sector in Egypt through an Energy Management Assistance (EnMA) Service.  

The 10-day training was delivered online to HFC with a special focus upon introducing the EnMA service to the company team and covering the energy management system procedures according to ISO 50001 and  the Energy audit procedures according to ISO 50002.

Notably, RCREEE conducted 30 field visits to industrial institutions interested in the EnMA service under IEEF project. Besides, 15 factories are currently benefiting from EnMA service.

About The Industrial Energy Efficiency Fund (IEEF)

In September 2018, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), and the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) signed a Cooperation Protocol for the operation of the Industrial Energy Efficiency Fund (IEEF) in Egypt. Accordingly, RCREEE acts as the Fund manager.

EnMA Service aims to identify and assess measures for industrial facilities to improve their energy performance and consequently enhance their competitiveness and reduce their environmental footprint.
