21 May 2013: the First Arab Energy Efficiency Day

The “Arab Energy Efficiency Day” is a pan-Arab initiative that aims to raise the awareness of energy efficiency practices and technologies in the Arab region. The Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity at the League of Arab States (LAS) sets strategic goals to enhance Arab cooperation in the fields of transmitting, generating and distributing electricity to save energy. RCREEE teamed with LAS and MED-ENEC to organize the “Arab Energy Efficiency Day” for the first time in Cairo, Egypt. The Event took place on 21 May, 2013 at the headquarters of LAS.

The day hosted various activities that include an introductory speech by His Excellency Dr. Nabil Al-Araby, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, a round table discussion among international and Arab energy opinion leaders, a press conference, and an open discussion.  Attendees praised RCREEE’s efforts to enable and increase the adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency practices in the Arab.
