First meeting of national EELA Focal Points

SACREEE, EACREEE and UNIDO convened the first meeting of the Focal Points for the Energy Efficient lighting and appliances in East and Southern Africa (EELA) project on 15 October 2019 in Pretoria, South Africa. The meeting was organized within the Energy Efficiency in Emerging Economies (E4) Training Week for Sub-Saharan Africa.

The focal point meeting focused on the presentation and discussion of upcoming activities within the next 12 months and the role of the national EELA focal points which were nominated by the Ministries responsible of energy in the 21 Member States of the EAC and SADC region. Their key role is to provide technical support to the EELA project, to coordinate the regional EELA activities at the national level and to share lessons learned of successful national EELA activities.

Focal points were also provided with EELA communication material to facilitate their communication of the EELA objectives and activities with their national stakeholders.
