RCREEE organizes a session on "Alternative Energy Sources in Palestine"

November 4,2019: RCREEE welcomed General Director of the Palestinian Energy and Environment Center and Board of trustees member, Eng. Ayman Ismail as a speaker tackling "Alternative Energy Sources in Palestine".  The session was organized under APSEY program activities to allow APSEY 12th round interns to meet decision makers in the Arab region.  

The session commenced by a welcoming speech by RCREEE Executive Dr.  Ahmed Badr, who expressed his happiness to organize this session given Palestine pioneer role in the sector of renewable energy and its importance to strengthen intern’s knowledge and experience.

During the session, Eng. Ayman Ismail gave a glimpse on the current situation of the energy and electricity sources, the renewable energy strategy and related estimated installed capacity, until 2020. In addition, Eng. Ismail discussed the current investment mechanisms in renewable energy and presented the current projects pipeline under the supervision or execution of the energy authority. 

APSEY interns discussed with Eng. Ayman the main barriers and opportunities related to the alternative energy sector in Palestine.

Notably, RCREEE welcomed six new APSEY interns to its family, as part of the program’s 12th round from Egypt, Djibouti, Jordan, Lebanon, Yemen, and Syria.

Since 2014, APSEY Program has been co-financed by the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) via three consecutive grants. The grants aims to support young professionals and post-graduate students from Yemen, Sudan, Palestine, Djibouti, Mauritania, Somalia and Syria aspiring to work in the renewable energy and energy efficiency fields.
